Decorative endpapers; frontis of Sir Stuart Threipland Bart in Highland dress; engravings in the text. the family memoir was written by Chambers in 1853. Contains three essays:"The Threiplands of Fingask; "Life in a Scottish Country Mansion"; "Two Days on the Moors of Perthshire". There is neat evidence of library provenance: 1) Bookplate of "MacKnight Crawford of Cartsbam, Lauriston Castle" and a handdrawn family tree is pasted on the fep drawn on thick "Lauriston Castle" notecard. There is a further hand drawn pedigree on the verso of the rear end paper; two neat numbers stamped in text.2) A bookplate of the "Western Reserve Historical Society (Cleveland) overlays the Lauriston Castle bookplate - "the gift of P & M.J. Van Sweriger" with a blind stamp of the Society on the title page
